Background and Licensing

The Background and Licensing Unit is comprised of Licensing Coordinators, Specialists, and Background Analysts. The Background and Licensing Unit currently processes approximately 1200 individual licenses and approximately 200 entity licenses on an annual basis. The Background and Licensing Unit is responsible for reviewing all applications submitted by companies and individuals seeking Gaming and Bingo & Raffle licensure in the State of New Mexico.  Every application is submitted to the Licensing Division for review of any missing information and documentation needed to complete the application. Once an application is considered complete it is routed for further investigation and approval by the agencies Background Analysts.  Upon investigative completion from the Background Analyst, applications are then returned to the Licensing Unit where they are prepared and presented to the Board for approval at the monthly Board meeting. After final approval by the Board, a Business License or Finding of Suitability is then issued.

It is necessary that the organizations and individuals licensed in the State of  New Mexico maintain good standing within their parent organization and State of New Mexico. To aid in this, the Background and Licensing Unit will provide continuous liaison with licensees to ensure compliance with the MIC’s, State Rules and Regulations and the Gaming Control Act.
